Workshop on best practices of Operation and Maintenance of distribution system

A workshop, first of its kind in the history of Bhutan Power Corporation Limited on best practices of Operation & Maintenance (O&M) have been conducted from 28th July to 29th July 2014 at Namsaychholing Resort, Paro. The logistic support for the workshop was partially financed by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as a part of activity under the JICA Technical Cooperation Project (TCP-II) on improvement of Efficiency for Rural Power Supply Phase-II.

The workshop was chaired by the General Manager DCSD and attended by the heads of O&M of 19 Electricity Services Divisions along with Manager Operation & Maintenance Division, Manager Energy Management & Customer Care Division, Manager ESD Thimphu, Chief Safety Compliance Officer, Manager CMTD Begana, Manager ESD Samtse and Manager UED. The event took place with intense discussions with exchange of prolific ideas among the members sharing superlative information on performing the day-to-day O&M activities. Safety was one of the remarkable topics that consumed several hours of the workshop’s time. Nevertheless, issues faced on ground zero such as manpower, standardization of tools and plants and Right of Way were also equally deliberated and presented by respective ESDs. Gauging the current outcome, DCSD will introduce the workshop as an annual event.
