The contract for the construction of 2 x 8 MVA, 132/33 kV substation at Corlung, Trashiyangtse was awarded to M/s. Siddhartha Engineering Limited (SEL), Odisha, India at Nu. 303.530 million on February 11, 2016. The contract period is 15 months. This substation along with 132 kV D/C transmission line, which was recently awarded to M/s. Gammon India Ltd., will meet the construction power requirement of Kholongchhu Hydro Energy Ltd. (KHEL).

The KHEL has requirement of 3 MVA power within 18 months and 10 MVA after 24 months of release of first advance to BPC. Therefore, BPC had expedited the tendering process and was successful in awarding the contracts (transmission line contract was awarded in January 7, 2016 and substation contract in February 11, 2016) in record time. BPC will have to obtain the Environment Clearance (EC) for the transmission line and EIA study has to be expedited. The clearance for the construction of distribution network and substation shall be arranged by KHEL. Also the process for construction of 33 kV network is in track.
